LWAZI: THE PROJECT
The social context : Alexandra
According to World Bank data, South Africa remains the country with highest level of inequality in the world.
The inhuman policies of apartheid and the brutal exploitation of mineral resources created townships like Alexandra. Where more than half a million people are crammed together, in an environment of violence, broken families, and a lack of opportunities. This atmosphere shatters the future of children.

The project: Mitra Academy
Since 2020, the LWAZI project has been providing financial support to the South African school Mitra Academy.
The goal is to support the education of disadvantaged children, promote interethnic integration, and reduce school failure.

Our contribution: scholarships
The funds raised by LWAZI cover tuition fees and part of the school materials. The current monthly cost is €245 per child.
The aid is sent as scholarships through a Basque NGO called Zabalketa, which ensures that 100% of the donations reach their destination and are used for their intended purpose. Additionally, donations channeled through Zabalketa for the LWAZI project offer significant tax benefits.
